The Baby & Newborn Photography Association - Who they are and why I joined
/As a newborn and baby photographer, I have to take the safety of my little clients very seriously. It might surprise you to know that the newborn photography industry is completely unregulated. Photographers like me, who take safety seriously, have to take it upon ourselves to be trained and educated on how to ensure the beautiful images we create, are done safely.

/Ah, that special moment after weeks of encouragement when your little one starts to move around the house by themselves - a little uncoordinated and cute at first but then suddenly, those arms and legs are propelling them at the speed of light.
It is soon after this joy and love for their accomplishment that you realise just how many pointy edges and slammable doors there are around the house.

/September is Baby Safety Month, which is a great reminder to make sure your knowledge is up to scratch should you ever need to save a child's life.
It is easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of choice there is but remember;
Any course is better than no course at all.
Read MoreA Girly Newborn Photo Shoot | Hemel Hempstead | Madison
/When Madison arrived for her Newborn Photo Shoot the first thing I noticed was her amazing hair!
With her mum being a hair dresser, it made those luscious locks even more perfect.
While we were getting to ready to start with family photos, we talked about the risks of getting pee'd and poo'd on when handling a naked baby. Madison's mum and I were wearing matching white tops (thank you Asda) which are lovely tops for photos but are a little risky around a tiny naked bum.

Read MoreTop Mummy YouTubers & Why You Should Watch Them!
/Beside the usual cat videos, over the last few years the world has been taken by storm by children watching other children open and play with toys, adults acting out scenes with toys (yes, this is apparently acceptable) and tweenagers falling in love with YouTubers just like we did with pop stars.
If you think youtube is just for children and weirdoes though, you are very wrong!
Mum (and dad!) vloggers are taking to YouTube in force, sharing the ups and downs of pregnancy, children and family life.
And when I say ups and downs, I mean it.

/And just like that, little miss Harper turns 1.
Back in 2016 I met Harper and her family for her newborn photo shoot.
She was tiny little bundle of sleepiness, who slept like a dream, snuggled in the cosiness of her mum and dad's gorgeous house. See how tiny she is in her dad's arms? Well stick around...

/Albie was the perfect little model at his newborn photo shoot a couple of weeks ago. He slept from the get go and pretty much stayed that way the entire shoot!
To start things off I used a lovely cream fluffy blanket. You'll have to trust me on this but it is SO soft! No wonder babies sleep so well on it.
I laid him down and got some natural photos while he got comfy and then when he was in a nice deep sleep I wrapped him up in a dark grey wrap.
Also, check out the amazing mohican!

Baby Photography Hemel Hempstead | Scarlett Turns 1
/Just over a year ago I met Scarlett, a teeny tiny little newborn girl in Hemel Hempstead.
At only a few days old, she was a gorgeous little newborn model and I spent a few hours with her family getting a mixture of sleepy posed photos and more relaxed family photos.
Their conservatory was full of the most gorgeous natural light and was the perfect spot for cuddles and sleepy warmth.

/Today, just before the self service tills in Woodhall Farm Sainsburys, I did it.
I bought myself flowers.
There is no special occasion or special reason, I just think they are pretty and I think they will bring me joy (Hello Marie Kondo fans)
Even while I was buying them though I felt a bit of guilt. Spending money on things you don't need can be tough.
But that soon vanished when the shop assistant spoke to me. She asked me if I wanted the price taken off the flowers.
I was almost apologetic with my reply when I told her that actually they were for me so it didn't matter.
And her reply?

/Raise your hand if your Dacorum Digest newspaper normally makes its way to the recycling bin pretty quick when it comes through the door.

That was until a couple of editions ago when for some reason I decided to give it a read. It turns out it is quite the little nugget of local information.
Now, as many of you are busy parents whose time is taken up with much more valuable things like nappies and a constant trail of child destruction, I have picked out the highlights of what you can expect over the summer in and around Hemel Hempstead.

/Spring is one of my favourite times of year for outdoor photo shoots.
After dreaming of being able to wear boots for so long, the longing for summer shoes returns along with the earning for longer days and the smell of cut grass. The sun starts to make a few more appearances and going out without a coat for the first time this year becomes an event.

Baby Photography | Luton | The Adventures of Isla
/April 2017 - The Adventure
Life as a 1 year old is one big adventure. Every door must be opened, every stair climbed and every raised surface fallen off of. It's a time of constant curiosity.
It is also a time of throwing routine out the window whenever you fancy it, which is what happened in Isla's case.
