Lottie's Newborn Photo Shoot | Hemel Hempstead

Little Lottie came for her Newborn Shoot a few weeks ago in response to a Model Call I put out on my Facebook Page.

Model calls are when I ask parents to bring in their newborn baby for a free photo shoot so that I can perfect something before trying it with a paid client.
It might be that I want to practice a certain pose or try out new lighting.  In Lottie's case I had a few new creative ideas that I wanted to try.

Lottie is the youngest of three (aren't all the best people... ;) ) and arrived a week early.  She had given her mummy a bit of trouble during pregnancy but was so far a nice, calm and sleepy baby.  Hopefully that's still the case!
She loved being wrapped and also enjoyed spitting out her dummy with an impressive amount of force.

While mum relaxed in front of the tele, Lottie and I set to work creating the beautiful (if I do say so myself) photos below.

The first set up was based on earthy colours and flowers.  I used a brown crate and accessories and included gypsophila and a flowery headband for a girly touch.

Lottie LOVED being wrapped and even flashed a little smile as she drifted into a deeper sleep.

Staying fast asleep throughout (...her, not me), I then moved onto the second set up.  This time it was all about the lace and neutrals.
She loved having her hand by her face so I let her keep it up there and free'd those adorable little legs.

Once I was done with the two main set ups I has planned, Lottie was still happily sleeping away so I took the opportunity to try out my new dark grey backdrop.  Who says girls can't rock grey?!

A big thank you to Lottie & her mummy for answering my Model Call.

If all my Model Calls could be as sleepy as Lottie i'd be the luckiest photographer alive!

I don't run Model Calls very often, but when I do I advertise them on my Facebook Page first.  I generally advertise for babies between 5 days & 1 year and it could be anything from a posed newborn shoot to a lifestyle outdoor adventure.
