From Click to Print: Understanding the Process of Family Photography
/As an experienced family photographer based in Milton Keynes, I've often been asked about the process that takes place behind the scenes, the journey from the initial 'click' of the camera to the final 'print'.
Today, I'll pull back the curtain and give you an insight into the magic that happens in-between to transform a fleeting moment into a memory.
1. Pre-shoot Consultation Emails & Booking Form
The journey starts even before I pick up my camera. It begins with an email conversation - understanding the family dynamic, discussing your vision, choosing the location, deciding on outfits, and setting a date and time. This step helps to ensure that I'm able to capture your family's personality and get you images you’ll love.
2. The Photoshoot
This is where the magic begins - the day of the photoshoot. Equipped with my camera and the shared vision from our consultation, I aim to capture candid, genuine moments that portray your family's bond and love. I encourage interactions, playfulness, and natural expressions to get those perfect shots. It's an hour of fun, laughter, and creating memories.
3. Sorting and Selecting
After the photoshoot, I have potentially hundreds of photos. The task now is to go through these and pick the best shots - ones that represent your family beautifully. This is a time-consuming process and requires a keen eye for detail, as even the smallest detail can make a big difference in the final result.
4. Post-Production
Once the best images are selected, they go through post-production. This involves adjusting exposure, contrast, sharpness, and sometimes retouching to enhance the photo's overall quality and feel. However, the aim is always to retain the natural beauty of the shot.
5. Online Gallery
Once the images are edited, I will uploaded them to your private, passworded online gallery. You can then look through them at your own speed and choose your favourites.
7. Delivering your Images
Whether you’d like the digital images, prints, frames or an album, your images will then be delivered to you for you to hang on your walls, share with extended famliy and treasure forever.
8. Aftercare
Even after your images are delivered, my job isn't done. I'm always available for any aftercare you might need, whether that's ordering more prints, discussing how to care for your prints, or planning your next photoshoot!
